On December 1st, 2009 The Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association Awarded 12 Volunteers for outstanding achievements. The ceremony was held in Regina at the Legislative building.
Attending the ceremony was The honourable Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Dr. Gordon L. Barnhart, numerous MLA's, the President of the Saskatchewan Brain Injury association Elden Swab and numerous other guests. This years award recipents were from Regina; Patricia Thompson, Angel Blair, Scott Hubick, Moose Jaw; Les Good, Saskatoon;Ted Mitchell,Gordan MacFadden,Terry Foulds, Eunice Halen, Cynthia Block, Sheila Solvason and Lynn Back and from Prince Albert Shelli Gardiner.
The Mission of The Saskachewan Brain Injury association is dedicated to improving the knowledge, services and quality of life for people living with acquired brain injury, their family and service providers. Without the hard work of the volunteers, like the ones recognized above the mission would not be a success.
Shelli Gardiner, a survivor of brain injury, was recognized for her outstanding fundraising ability. In the past two years Shelli has rasied more then $8000 by making contacts, involing her family and asking for support in the Prince Albert area. Shelli has also been a valuable resource to educate people on Brain Injury.
With the funds that Shelli has raised, she has made it possible for many indivduals with Brain injury and their family to attend the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Camp, Conferences and distribute educational materials regarding brain Injury.
