The Sound of Silence will not be playing Sept. 26 at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre in any way, shape or form.
The planned Art Garfunkel concert for that evening has been cancelled, but it doesn’t mean the Centre will be left in complete silence as the Arts Walk of Fame Gala evening will still go ahead.
“The event that night will still be a great celebration of Prince Albert performers,” noted Centre General Manager Darren McCaffery.
“Absolutely we would have loved to have had Art Garfunkel here and maybe we will get the chance in the future to see him here.”
The six-time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was forced to cancel his appearance here due to scheduling change that made his Prince Albert visit impossible at this time, McCaffery said.
The E.A. Rawlinson is offering full refunds to any ticket holders, or they can get a partial refund and still attend the gala that evening.
McCaffery said the gala event will be an impressive multi-media mix that will be a tremendous showcase of the talent in the area. It will include music, readings, montages, video and dance.
McCaffery said that he hopes there still might be a way to find a bridge over these troubled waters and get Garfunkel to Prince Albert.
“We’d like to still bring him here sometime after Christmas, we’re just not sure what his schedule looks like.”
