Montreal Lake rink damaged by large group of vandals

A vandalism rampage inside the Montreal Lake Hockey Arena has done extensive damage to the facility.

In a release, Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP said that the damage included broken windows in the lobby, broken sheets of plexi-glass and most walls and ceilings. Paint was also thrown on the floors, bleachers and the boards around the ice surface.

The subsequent investigation found that 17 people were involved. The RCMP is working with band council, community members, youth workers and child and family services staff on the case.

So far, five youths between the ages of 13-15 have been charged but their names can’t be released.

One adult has been charged.

Daniel Bruce Henderson, 18, of Montreal Lake, has been charged with break and enter, mischief over $5,000, theft under $5,000, breach of judge’s undertaking and fail to comply with a youth sentence order.

Henderson appears in court on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

The investigation continues.
