On May 22nd, 2014 at approximately 1:34 AM,  the Saskatoon RCMP were called to a house fire at Black Rock Estates near the Blackstrap Provincial Park.  The house was completely destroyed.  The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and is still under investigation.  The RCMP are asking for the public's assistance with any information in relation to this fire.

At approximately 11:00 am this morning. Saskatoon / Hanley RCMP received a call about a distraught 27 year old male on a property in the RM of Lost River approximately 28 kms northeast of Hanley, Saskatchewan.  He was reported to have a rifle, and be on the property which belonged to family members.

 

As previously mentioned, a perimeter was set up to restrict access to the property where the armed male was.

 

ERT, Containment Team, Negotiators, Police Dog Service, arrived on scene.  Efforts were made to have the male surrender.  At approximately 4:48 pm, ERT went into the residence and located the male (only occupant) in possession of a rifle.  He was arrested without incident and no one was injured.

 

The male is currently in custody pending further investigation.  Charges are pending.  Once a determination is made on charges, a further update will be provided to the media

Saskatoon & Warman RCMP are presently responding to a report of an armed barricaded person in a rural area southeast of Dundurn, Saskatchewan.  The barricaded male individual is within a residence.

 

The RCMP Containment Team, RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Crisis Negotiators have been deployed to the area.  EMS has also been dispatched to the area on stand-by.

 

A perimeter has been set up to restrict traffic in the area.

 

There are no further details at this time and an update to media will occur when more information becomes available.

Cut Knife RCMP

On May 20th , 2014 at about 7:00 pm a complaint was taken by the Cut Knife RCMP of a male youth that got sprayed by an unknown substance while riding his bike on Broad Street in Cut Knife.  The suspect was a First Nation’s male about 6’ tall, he drove up in a black two door Sunfire with a sunroof, exited the vehicle and sprayed the youth with the unknown substance.  The suspect then got back into his vehicle and drove away.   The suspect was wearing a black toque and black sweater at the time of the incident.  The victim of the incident did not require medical attention.  Cut Knife RCMP are reminding the public to be mindful of suspicious persons and vehicles in their communities.   Anyone with information about this crime should contact Cut Knife RCMP or Crimestoppers.

1212 am - 15 year old female reported missing. Ran away from mother when she attended to 104th Street to pick her up. Numerous residences she is known to frequent have been checked but her whereabouts remain unknown. Teara MATHESON is 15, was wearing a black jacket, black and white leggings and orange flip flops.

Over 110 calls for service over this three day period.  6 False/nuisance 911 calls.  7 Traffic complaints.  9 False alarms.  9 Municipal Bylaw complaints.

 

2014 May 23

817 am - Vehicle parked on 1900 block of 92nd Street had a window damaged and some items stolen from inside some time overnight.

 

822 am - Red 2005 Chevrolet Optra with no plates stolen from 102nd Street.

 

921 am - Vehicle on Deans Crescent gone through overnight, nothing taken.

 

926 am - Vehicle on 1900 block of 96th Street gone through overnight, small amount of cash and DVD player taken.

 

255 pm - Child welfare complaint of abuse allegation.  Initial investigation not consistent with any physical abuse having taken place, matter still under investigation.

 

346 pm - 49 year old woman arrested for Mischief after complaint of intoxicated person in a yard on 108th Street.  Held in custody until sober.

 

800 pm - 31 year old male arrested and charged with Mischief and Breach of Probation X 3 after damaging property at a business on 101st Street.  Remanded into custody and set to make his first appearance on Monday May 26th at 930am.

 

806 pm - Report of intoxicated male wondering around on 13th Avenue, then settling down on a pile of dirt.  A 50 year old man and a 51 year old woman both arrested for Public Intoxication and held in custody until sober.

 

932 pm - Report of two males fighting at a bar.  One 30 year old was arrested for Causing a Disturbance and held in custody until sober.  No charges pursued.

 

2014.05.24

142 am - Report of a male suspect rummaging through a vehicle.  Fled when complainant noticed him.

 

200 am - 911 call of a fight in an apartment building on Winder Crescent.  Three persons arrested on scene, all quite intoxicated.  30 year old male arrested for Assault, no charges pursued due to lack of cooperation for witnesses.  A 23 year old woman arrested for outstanding warrants.  A 27 year old woman was arrested after providing someone else's name who also happened to be on conditions not to consume alcohol.  True identity then confirmed, and subject now facing charge of Obstruction and Failing to Comply with Undertaking.

 

320 am - A 23 year old woman arrested and charged with Impaired Driving after a vehicle stop on 101st Street.

 

328 am - Theft of a truck reported, later recovered.  Three male youths, 14, 15 and 17 later identified as responsible.  Further details at end of media release.

 

408 am - Theft of gas from a business on 100th Street.  No available description of suspect vehicle.

 

450 am - Report of an assault in progress on Winder Crescent.  A 26 year old male was arrested on scene and has been charged with one count of Assault.  Victim did not sustain serious injuries.

 

505 am - Report of youth witnessed damaging a vehicle window, now running down 106th Street.  Suspect not located.

 

523 am - Break and Enter to a garage on 104th Street, suspect fled when alarm activated.

 

526 am - Report of a male breaking out a window to a residence on 500 block of 102nd Street.  A 19 year old male was located and was arrested a short time later, facing one count of Mischief.

 

606 am - Complainant having a party and now one guest refusing to leave.  Subjects were arguing over missing money.  Suspect driven home by members to avoid further problems.

 

658 am - Report of a tire to a vehicle punctured while parked on Foley Drive overnight.

 

710 am - 33 year old male arrested after located my patrolling members sleeping on someone's lawn.

 

1009 am - 18 year old male arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with Probation Order after a complaint of an intoxicated and unwanted guest refusing to leave a residence on 102nd Street.

 

1042 am - Vehicle window damaged while parked on 106th Street overnight.

 

1203 pm - Caller asking for advise about what to do, as the people she was babysitting for have not paid her yet.  It was decided she would probably not babysit for them again.

 

1250 pm - Members called to 100th Street on report of a very intoxicated woman who can barely stand and stumbling into traffic.  43 year old woman was located and arrested and now facing charges of Assaulting a Police Officer and Breach of Probation X 2.  She has since been released from custody and will make her first court appearance in North Battleford on June 23rd.

 

209 pm - Vehicle parked on 1400 block of 107th Street gone through overnight, tools reported stolen.

 

251 pm - Break and Enter to a residence on 103rd Street, believed to have occurred at approximately 330 in the morning.

 

407 pm - Report of two males ordering drinks at a bar and leaving without paying.

 

510 pm - Theft of a bike from 18th Avenue, occurred some time in past 5 days.  Described as a blue Nakamira Monster.

 

917 pm - 49 year old woman arrested and charged with Public Intoxication after complaint of intoxicated woman on 9th Avenue.

 

927 pm - 49 year old woman arrested and charged with Public Intoxication located heavily intoxicated on 102nd Street.

 

1028 pm - Complaint of intoxicated people causing a disturbance on Railway Avenue East.  Two males, 44 and 45 arrested.  44 year old male charged with Breach of Probation and Failing to Comply with Undertaking.   45 year old male charged with Failing to Comply with Undertaking.

129 am - 21 year old male arrested for Public Intoxication after subject's mother called and subject was trying to jump out of moving vehicle while he was being driven home.

 

520 am - Stolen vehicle located driving on 100th Street.  Vehicle fled from police, later located and suspects identified.  A 15 year old female youth has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Resisting arrest.  A 14 year old female has been charged with possession of Stolen Property.  Both were passengers in the vehicle.  15 year old male driver charged with multiple offences associated to this and other matters, including Flight from Police, Resisting arrested and Breach of probation X 2.  Further details on accused at end of this release.

 

1010 pm - Members came upon an break and enter in progress to a business.  Suspect fled in a red Grand Prix with an Alberta License.  Pursuit abandoned on bridges on Highway 16, suspect vehicles heading in direction towards Alberta.

 

1022 pm - 15 year old female reported missing from Martin Crescent, unknown clothing description.  Kara Baptiste is described as being about 5' 3", 110lbs, thin with dark brown hair and brown eyes.  Initial attempts to locate have all been negative.

 

1116 pm - 14 year old youth charged with Failing to Comply with Curfew after check on 114th Street.

1221 am - 3 suspicious persons reported checking out vehicles on Cardinal Crescent.  Patrols of area negative.  No reports of vehicles entered.

 

104 am - Hit and run on Winder Crescent.  Suspect vehicle fled after striking two parked cars.  Suspect vehicle located a short time later and two suspects, ages 16 and 19, arrested and remain in custody, charges are still pending.

 

510 am - Residential Break and Enter reported, happened between 4pm and 9pm the previous evening at a residence on 1300 block of 107th Street.

 

A 15 year old youth is facing multiple charges involving numerous property crimes from the previous month, including two matters reported over the weekend involving a stolen vehicle and brief pursuit.  A second 15 year old youth as also facing numerous charges in relation to these activities.  This includes both facing Break and Enter charges in connection with a home Break and Enter from the 19th of May at approximately  359 am on the 1600 block of 101st Street where the homeowners were awaken by the suspects while committing the offence, and several other Break and Enters to garages reported earlier in the month of May.  The first 15 year old youth has been charged with multiple offences including but not limited to Possession of Stolen Property, Flight from Police, Resisting Arrest, Break and Enter to a Residence X 8 and Failing to Comply with Probation X 7.  The second 15 year old has been also charged with 8 counts of Break and Enter to a residence and is also facing numerous other charges.  Both are in police custody and will be appearing in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday March 26th at 930 am.  Further charges are still pending.
