White Butte RCMP

1420 hrs

White Butte Detachment members are currently on scene at a single vehicle rollover, involving a motorcycle east of Pense on Highway #1.  Stars Ambulance has attended and transported the lone rider to the hospital.  Members are attempting to redirect eastbound traffic at this time.  Please be advised that motorists should expect delays for the next couple of hours

Melfort RCMP

On April 30th, at approximately 2:30 pm, Melfort RCMP received a call from a local area resident advising that they had found human remains near the junctions of Highway #41 and #368 in a field.  The human remains were located approximately 500 metres southeast of the location where the vehicle of Julian Demers was found on January 31, 2014 (see previous release below).  The human remains have been confirmed to be that of Julian Demers from the St. Brieux district.  An extensive examination of the scene has been conducted and at this point there is no evidence to suggest foul play.

Melfort RCMP had conducted a number of searches in the area near and around where the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe was found without success due to the terrain which was uneven, treed and snow covered.

Melfort RCMP along with the Office of the Chief Coroner are continuing their investigation into this matter.  Next of kin have been advised.  An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on May 2, 2014.

Melfort RCMP received information from the public of a male matching the description of Julian DEMERS stuck in an approach near the junctions of Highways 41 and 368, near Melfort, Saskatchewan, in late November, 2013. On January 31, 2014, a search of the area located the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe of Julian DEMERS, stuck in a field southwest of the junction. Julian DEMERS was not found with the vehicle, however, police do not believe foul play was involved at this time. Further searches of the area failed to locate any sign of Julian DEMERS. The investigation is ongoing.
