Highway #33 is now re-opened to traffic in both directions. Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through this area. An update on this collision will follow.
At Approximately 4:00 p.m. this afternoon the Milestone and Weyburn RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision between two pickup trucks on Highway 33 near the Town of Sedley. The RCMP are being assisted by local EMS and STARS.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing and the RCMP advise that Hwy 33 will be closed until further notice. Motorists are advised to avoid traveling in the area as the roads are icy and to expect delays. Further details to be released once obtained.
Fort Qu'Appelle RCMP
2014-03-23 1126 hrs
Steven Remenda, 39 years old from Indian Head has been charged with:
1) Impaired operation motor vehicle causing death and
2) Operating motor vehicle while over 80 mgs causing death.
Remenda was to make his first court appearance in Fort Qu'Appelle this morning.
The family has requested the name of the deceased to not be released at this time.
The investigation is continuing.
On Saturday, March 22, 2014, Rosthern RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing on the Beardy’s First Nation. Members were called to a residence at 6:00 a.m. where an altercation had occurred between two men at a house party. Upon arrival, a 20-year-old male was being treated by EMS for multiple stab wounds to the chest and back and was air-lifted by Stars Air Ambulance to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. His injuries are non-life-threatening and he has since been released from hospital.
24-year-old Sean Lionel Gardipy from Beardy’s First Nation was located at another residence on Beardy’s First Nation and arrested in connection to the incident.
Sean Gardipy has been remanded into custody and will appear in Provincial Court in Saskatoon at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24 to face charges of:
Aggravated Assault; Section 268 of the Criminal Code
Assault with a Weapon; Section 267 of the Criminal Code
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose; Section 88 of the Criminal Code
Utter Threats against a Person; Section 264 of the Criminal Code.
On March 22, 2014 at 8:00 p.m., RCMP members from the Southey/Strasbourg Detachment, participating in the National Impaired Driving Initiative, conducted a traffic stop near the community of Bulyea. During the traffic stop, RCMP members seized over 30 grams of cannabis marihuana and over $7,000.00 of Canadian currency.
The following day, March 23rd, 2014, RCMP officers from Southey/Strasbourg, Lumsden Detachment and Police Dog Services executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a rural location south of Strasbourg. The investigation is ongoing with further investigational steps to be completed. Evidence collected by police during the traffic stop and the subsequent search warrant has resulted in police charging 44 year old Howard Yung of Strasbourg area with the following charges:
- Possession of marihuana over 30 grams 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking 5(2) CDSA
- Possession of property obtained by crime 354(1)
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon - 6 counts - 91(2)

715am - Report of an assault/fight having occurred at a residence on Thomas Avenue earlier in evening. Still under investigation.
809am - Police called to a disturbance at a hotel. Several suspects located, intoxicated. All subjects voluntarily left area.
935am - Report of persons fighting at a hotol. Two males, ages 33 and 20 located and arrested. Held in custody until sober. 20 year old is facing 2 counts of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking.
1147am - Vehicle parked on 104th Street for last day had license plate stolen.
233pm - The 70 year old male arrested and charged with impaired driving yesterday, upon his release today attended to the mall intoxicated and was trying to fight people. Subject arrested again, this time for Being Intoxicated in Public.
401pm - Call of a fight involving several persons on 114th Street. Patrols to area did not locate any individuals. No further complaints received.
934pm - A 27 year old woman was arrested and facing a charge of Assault after complaint of domestic disturbance at a residence on 114th Street. A 43 year old male was also arrested on scene. Alcohol appears to have been a factor.
Sometime over the last week, suspect(s) driving a large truck broke into the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic church, which is an abandoned church east of the community of Bruno. 143pm - Report of an intoxicated person trying to drive away from a residence. Police located the male before he could get to his vehicle. Arrested for drunk in public and lodged until sober. Charged for liquor offence.
357pm - Report of an intoxicated person in a business causing problems. Police arrested a 49 year old male. He has been charged for failing to comply with his conditions. Lodged until sober. Released for court.
436pm - Traffic stop on 102nd Street. 70 year old male driver arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He has been charged for impaired driving and refuse to provide breath sample. Released for court date.

1211am - Report of a possible impaired driver on Railway Ave. Vehicle located. Driver not impaired. 27 year old male driver was arrested for obstruction. Intoxicated female passenger refused to leave the area after cab came to pick her up. She was arrested. She is now charged for resist arrest. Both lodged in cells until sober. Both released for court.
1246am - Traffic stop on Hwy.#4 North. Male driver arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Charges laid and the male has been released for a court date.
333am - Traffic stop on Hwy.#16 bypass. Driver was impaired. 23 year old male was arrested and is now charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and drive while suspended. Lodged in cells until sober. Released for court date.

1132am - 21 year old male arrested and facing charges of Assault and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking after report of an assault at a residence on 106th Street. Victim and Suspect known to each other. Male to be remanded into custody and will appear in court on Monday March 24th at 930am.
1209pm - 21 year old male arrested for public intoxication on 15th Avenue after report of male causing a disturbance.

346pm - Report of an assault on 100th Street. Caller alleged he was assault by two younger males, but did not want to wait for or speak to police. Patrol of area for suspects was negative.
441pm - Report of a break and enter into a motorhome parked on 99th Street, possibly someone sleeping/squatting in it for a period of time.
505pm - Report of two youth on Thompson Crescent knocking on doors and running away, subjects not located.
543pm - Two vehicle collision on 1800 block of 100th Street. Minor damage to both vehicles and no injuries reported.
805pm - 61 year old male arrested for public intoxication on 100th Street.
905pm - Two vehicle collision at intersection of 100th Street and Territorial Drive North. 20 year old male driver of one of the vehicles is facing charge of driving through a red light. No injuries reported, one vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from scene. Traffic disruptions at intersection for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
124am - Report of a possible impaired driver on 100th St. Patrols made. Suspect vehicle was not located.
142am - Report of a break and enter to a residence. Police arrested a 15 year old male youth. He has been charged and released before a justice of the peace. The youth will be in court May 12th, 2014.
256am - 18 year old female arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Occurred on Hwy.#16 and Territorial Dr. She is now charged with impaired driving, refusal and mischief. Released for court April 7th, 2014.
328am - Report of an intoxicated male passed out in the lobby of a business. 58 year old male was arrested and lodged in cells until sober. Male has been charged for being drunk in public.
On March 21, 2014, members of the Melfort RCMP Detachment and Prince Albert Integrated Street Enforcement Team were conducting a drug investigation in the City of Melfort. A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed on a residence in the City of Melfort. Two adult males were arrested during the investigation without incident. During the investigation, Police seized a large quantity of cannabis marihuana, Canadian currency, numerous cell phones, scales and drug paraphernalia.
Ronald Grosh, age 50, of Melfort, Saskatchewan has been charged with possession of cannabis marihuana for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of proceeds of crime. Grosh will be appearing on the above charges on April 29th, 2014 in Melfort Provincial Court.
Jeremy Clift, age 23, of Sylvan Lake, Alberta has been charged with possession of cannabis marihuana for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of proceeds of crime. Clift will be appearing on the above charges on April 29th, 2014 in Melfort Provincial Court.
Fort Qu'Appelle RCMP
At 1230 am this morning members of the Fort Qu'Appelle RCMP responded to a 2 vehicle collision on a grid road between Labret and Indian Head. On arrival a 40 year of female from the Ft Qu'Appelle Area was found to be deceased.
Investigation has determined that the victim was a passenger in a car that was traveling east on the grid. The car swerved into the path of an west bound pickup truck and was struck.
The driver of the pick up truck was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. The driver of the car was treated at the scene then transported to the hospital for precaution.
It appears that alcohol was a factor and that charges will be forthcoming. The Fort Qu' Appelle RCMP are being assisted in their investigation by a Traffic Analyst from Yorkton Traffic Services. EMS and Fire Services from Fort Qu'Appelle also attended and assisted
