North Battleford RCMP
North Battleford RCMP have had a number of vehicle mischiefs reported over the past several days throughout various parts of the city. In some cases, access was gained by the suspects breaking out a window. Police are reminding people not to leave property inside parked vehicles overnight, as this is often the vehicles being targeted for this specific type of offence. The vast majority of these incidents appear to be occurring between sunset and sunrise, particularly in the early morning hours. There will be an increasing focus on evening patrol units to increase visibility in selected target areas to attempt to combat these incidents. North Battleford RCMP are asking that anyone noting any suspicious persons or activities in their neighbourhoods to notify the detachment promptly in order to better focus our efforts in combatting this issue. Specific notice to be made of persons or groups of people lingering near vehicles or who appear to be "checking out" parked vehicles as they are walking down the street. Anyone with any information on these or any other criminal activity are asked to contact the North Battleford RCMP detachment at 306-446-1720 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Maidstone RCMP are currently investigating an assault on a 12-year-old male youth that occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan.
The youth was feeling ill and while walking home from school, a masked, male suspect approached on foot and attacked him, punching him several times in the stomach. The suspect then left the scene on foot. The attack occurred at the end of an alley near the old Lashburn High School at 1st Street West. The youth suffered minor injuries.
The suspect is believed to be a male in his mid-40's, six feet tall, with greying hair. He was wearing blue jeans, brown boots, an old-style goalie mask and a black jacket.
Members did patrols in the area and made neighborhood inquiries, but were unable to locate a suspect. It has not been determined if this was a random or targeted attack. Students within the community are advised to stay in well-lit areas and to walk with a friend or in groups. Members continue to investigate and further information will be released as it becomes available.
