On February 20, 2014, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Maidstone Detachment members were dispatched to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway # 16, east of Waseca, Saskatchewan.
Investigators have determined that the victim, Marlene Florence Cardinal, a 51-year-old female resident of Maidstone was walking down the middle of Highway 16, in the west bound lane when she was struck by three vehicles: a pickup truck with trailer, a semi and a third passenger vehicle.
The family has been notified and the matter remains under investigation. At this time investigators do not believe this collision is criminal or suspicious in nature.

119pm - Fraud reported. Suspect know to victim. Investigation ongoing.
326pm - Complaint of Threats/Ongoing harassment between two youths.
408pm - Report of intoxicated male causing a disturbance at a business. Later located some distance away on 101st Street. 40 year male found to have outstanding warrants from Calgary and arrested. Subject to be returned to Alberta for court their point.
724pm - A purse reported stolen fro a vehicle parked on Railway Avenue East. Nothing of value in purse.
725pm - Call of several intoxicated persons at a residence on 102nd Street causing problems. All parties known to each other. Members managed to negotiate a truce.
802pm - 911 call of an assault at a residence on 100th Street. Investigation shown to be a fight between two brothers. No injuries and no one wanted matter investigated further.
1240am - Report of a group of guys yelling at a cab on 103rd Street. When members attended the cab was gone, and with no other vehicles worth yelling at the suspects apparently left as well.
1254am - Complaint of intoxicated person causing a disturbance at hospital. 68 year old woman arrested and held in custody until sober.
249am - 911 call to a residence on 95th Street, told call taker they were calling 911 about someone's knee, then said they called because they are a psycho. At residence, several persons were clearly noted inside but refused to allow entry by police. Entry to residence had to be made by force. Inside, all subject's were safe and investigation shows no valid reason for 911 call. Investigation continuing as possible charges under 911 Act may be pursued.
339am - Report of someone buzzing their door for 15 or 20 minutes. Upon arrival subject doing the buzzing located. It was explained to them that if you have to buzz someone's door more then 5 minutes and they still haven't answered it that maybe they don't want to see you and you should just go. So they did.
407am - Call of suspicious persons yelling and possibly kicking a vehicle on Panton Avenue. Patrols of area negative.
Maidstone RCMP advises that Hwy #16 between Waseca and Maidstone is now open to traffic. Investigation is ongoing.
Maidstone RCMP are on the scene of a fatal collision which occurred on Hwy #16 between Waseca and Maidstone. The accident is in the westbound lane approximately 2 kms east of Waseca.
Initial investigation suggests that a female had left a vehicle she had been driving and was walking on the highway where she was struck.
A collision analyst is at the collision site examining the scene.
There are no further details available at this time. More details will be provided later on today. The highway is closed in order for the investigation to be conducted. A detour for traffic has been set up. An update will be provided when the highway is clear.
