Proceeds of Crime - Cash Seizure

On January 31, 2014 the Lloydminster Municipal R.C.M.P. arrested two subjects who were on warrant status from Lloydminster and Prince Alberta.  The arrest occurred at a residence in Lloydminster, AB.  During the investigation, approximately $57,000 in cash was seized.  A 25 year old male, Braidy VERMETTE, and a 26 year old female, Michelle PRIMEAU, both of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, have been charged with Proceeds of Crime over $5,000 and Breach of Conditions. Both are scheduled to appear in Lloydminster, Alberta Provincial Court on March 18, 2014.

RCMP remain at the scene of this collision.

The driver of the semi from Winnipeg is 42 years old.

The driver of the car from Wynyard, Saskatchewan is identified as Kenny Popowich (64 years old) and has succumbed to his injuries while in hospital in Regina.

 Once the accident scene is clear, RCMP will advise the media.

RCMP remain on the scene of this collision.

The accident involved two vehicles:

- a 4 door car driving eastbound with one male driver from Wynyard, Saskatchewan

- a semi tractor / trailer unit driving westbound with one male driver from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Both drivers were taken to hospitals.  The male from Wynyard was taken from the scene via STARS ambulance to hospital with what were reported as serious, life threatening injuries.  The male from Winnipeg was taken via ambulance to hospital in Lanigan and has since been released.

The collision analyst along with detachment investigators are examining the vehicles and the scene.

It is expected that the hwy will continue to be closed for a number of hours as the investigation continues and the vehicles / debris are removed from the highway.

8:08 am.  Report of Break and Enter , Home Invasion, where three male suspects entered a home on the 1200 block of 104th street brandishing weapons and demanding drugs and money.  Seven suspects were arrest in relation to this investigation but were later released without charge.  Investigation is on going.

 

10:41 am.  Report of a disturbance at a residence on the 1200 block of 104th street where a male youth refused to leave until he was given a cigarette.  Youth was arrested and transported to family member.

 

11:30 am.  Report on an assault at Kramer Place.  Investigation on going.

 

1:34 pm.  Family disturbance reported on the 1600 block of 92nd street.  Parents of the residence where tired of their adult children "mooching" and wanted them removed.  Social Services assisted in setting up accommodations for 1 male and 1 female adult (child).

 

1:41 pm Report of unwanted sober guest at a residence on Winder Cres.  Unwanted guest was removed by police and transported to a neutral location

 

2:09 pm.  Report of theft at a local restaurant.  Three patrons attempted to pay with declined credit card then left without paying.  Investigation is on going

 

10:00 pm.  23 year old male subject arrested on 1100 block of 108th street on investigation of break and enter.  Male subject had in his possession a substantial amount of marijuana.  Charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking laid.  Subject remanded for court Monday morning February 10th

 

5:37 pm. Report of fraud. 34 year female suspect fraudulently obtained Sasktel services by using her mothers information.  Suspect agreed to pay the bill and victim declined to pursue with charges.

 

5:25 pm. Report of theft at a location on the 1300 block of 113th street.  Investigation is on going.

 

6:21 pm. Report of shop lifting at a local business.  Unknown suspect stole small amount of merchandise and left on foot.

 

7:52 pm.  Theft of cell phone on 104th street.  Victim's cell phone was returned without incident.  Suspects not identified.

 

11:04 pm.  Report of unwanted intoxicated person at residence on 1400  block of 112th street.  A 46 year old intoxicated male arrested for breach the peace and held in custody until sober.

08:25 am. A 66 year old man reported unknown subjects with firearms attempting to break into his residence on the 1400 block of 114th street.  Investigation determined the 66 year old male was suffering from a mental illness and was transported to Hospital for treatment.

 

2:37 pm.  Report of mischief on Trudeau street.  Unknown suspect(s) throwing eggs at residence.

 

6:10 pm. Report of mischief on Meighen Cres.  Unknown suspect(s) placing cooked food items on a vehicle.

 

8:16 pm. Report of an unwanted guest at a residence on the 1500 block of 97th street.  Unwanted guest left prior to police arriving.

 

11:07 pm.  Report of unwanted intoxicated male at residence located on the 1500 block of 104th street.  Unwanted guest left prior to police arriving.

White Butte RCMP

12:15 p.m.

On Sunday, February 9th, RCMP from the White Butte Detachment received a call that there was a Break & Enter at St. John's Lutheran Church in the community of Edenwold, SK.

Members attended to the church and determined that entry was gained to the church by culprit(s) who pried open one of the side entrances to the Church.  In speaking with witnesses it was determined that the Break & Enter occurred sometime between February 2nd and February 9th.

Many of the items taken from the church are of historical significance to the Church and would have little value outside of their use.  Items that were taken during the theft include the following:

Baptismal Font (small basin) made of 1/4 inch cut oak

Brass candle holders

Brass crucifix

1/4 inch cut oak hymn board

Silver chalice

The baptismal font and hymn board have been in the church community for more than 100 years.  There were various hymn books and bibles taken, as well as numerous alter clothes and candles.

Three doors were taken off of their hinges but were not taken during the theft.  As well, there was some vandalism done inside of the church.

February 7th - Hit and Run - Kelvington, SK

The Kelvington/Rose Valley RCMP and Crime Stoppers are seeking assistance from the public in solving the following crime which happened approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 7th, 2014. A white 2014 Ford Escape was parked at the Kelvington Hospital. When the owner came back, they found there was damage to the front of the vehicle. Kelvington RCMP will continue their investigation into the incident.

2014-02-08 News Release

FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

February 8th, 2014- Hit and Run Greenwater Lake, SK

The Kelvington/Rose Valley RCMP and Crime Stoppers are seeking assistance from the public in solving the following crime which happened sometime between Friday January 31st, 2014 at midnight and  noon on Saturday February 1st, 2014. During this time, on Jack street in Greenwater Lake, a car parked in a driveway was damaged. Snowmobile parts were found on scene and damage appears consistent to being struck by a snowmobile. Rose Valley RCMP will continue their investigation into the incident.

Wynyard and Wadena RCMP

Wynyard and Wadena RCMP along with emergency personnel are on the scene of a collision on hwy # 16 near Dafoe, Saskatchewan involving a semi tractor trailer unit and another vehicle.  The semi is on its side and the road is blocked.  The Hwy is being closed for an undetermined amount of time while police conduct their investigation with the assistance of a collision analyst.

There are detours as a result of the collision and emergency personnel will be assisting in re-routing of traffic.  Drivers are cautioned to slow to 60 kms per hour when passing emergency personnel / tow trucks & operators.

Extent of injuries, number of people involved are not know at this time.  More details will be released as they become available.

North Battleford RCMP

On Saturday, February 08 North Battleford RCMP were called to a residence on the 1200 block of 104th Street where a home invasion occurred shortly before 8am.  Three unknown male suspects wearing a disguise forced entry to the home armed with firearms.  Once inside the residence the suspects forced the two females into a bedroom and told them not to leave.  The 3 suspect fled the property, on foot, out the front of the residence.  Initial investigation indicates the suspects were familiar with the resident of the home.
