La Loche RCMP and Fort McMurray RCMP

Between Friday, January 24, 2014 and Saturday, January 25, 2014, the Wood Buffalo RCMP along with other law enforcement partners conducted a traffic operation on Secondary Highway 965 between Fort McMurray, Alberta and La Loche, Saskatchewan. This road is only open in the winter months and is frequently used.  Several RCMP detachments joined together to contribute to this operation including Wood Buffalo RCMP plus Saskatchewan RCMP Detachments from La Loche, Swift Current and North Battleford. Other law enforcement partners included the Alberta Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.  Members of the operation were out conducting roving traffic enforcement.

 

The Alberta RCMP results of the traffic enforcement initiative included checking approximately 300 vehicles which resulted in the following; 1 Impaired Driving offence, 1 Firearms offence, 1 charge under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act , 1 charge of Breach of Conditions, 2 Outstanding Warrants executed, a 24 Hour Suspension issued, 23 tickets under the Traffic Safety Act issued for different offences, and 4 vehicles were towed for various issues.

 

After checking approximately 180 vehicles, the Saskatchewan RCMP patrols resulted in the following; 1 Refusal charge, 10 charges under the Alcohol Gaming Regulations Act, 7 tickets issued under the Traffic Safety Act , 11 various Criminal Code charges, 3 Outstanding Warrants executed, a 24 Hour Suspension issued, and 1 vehicle impounded.

 

RCMP would like to remind motorists that although ice roads are temporary the rules of the road and the highway traffic act still apply.

Estevan RCMP

Highway #39 is now open once again.

RCMP Estevan Detachment is currently on scene of where a semi-tractor trailer unit and single motor vehicle collision occurred on Sunday January 26. Highway #39 approximately 10 kilometers northwest of Estevan, Saskatchewan is currently closed in both directions for approximately two hours while a tow truck removes the semi-tractor trailer unit from the ditch. Motorists traveling on Highway #39 will be rerouted onto a grid road a short distance before returning to Highway #39.

 

Motorists traveling in the area can expect delays and are asked to slow down and use caution. Further updates will be available once the scene is clear.

Humboldt RCMP

4:08 pm.

 

This morning at 5:45 am Humboldt RCMP responded to a collision involving a Mini Van and a pedestrian on Hwy 5, right near the entrance to Muenster, Saskatchewan.   An 18 year old male from the Naicam, Saskatchewan area was pronounced dead on scene.

Initial investigation has indicated that the pedestrian was walking in the eastbound lane of the highway at the time of the collision.  The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

 

The highway was closed as an RCMP Collision Analyst was on scene to investigate and traffic was routed through the community of Muenster.  The matter remains under investigation and an autopsy has been ordered.

 

The victim's name is being withheld at this time.

Estevan RCMP

North Battleford RCMP

Over 40 calls for service/occurrences reported over last two days.  6 Alarms responded to.

 

2014.01.25

954am - Report of theft of gas on Highway 16 Bypass.  Patrols for vehicle negative.  Vehicle later reported to have returned and outstanding bill paid for.

 

1012am - 41 year old arrested after reports of a disturbance on 107th Street.  Intoxicated male located and arrested without incident.

 

1152am - 2005 Blue Dodge Caravan with Saskatchewan License 478 JBZ reported stolen from 112th Street.  Suspect has been identified, however he and vehicle have not yet been recovered.

 

133pm - Two vehicle collision involving a Pick up and a Semi on Territorial Drive East.  No injuries.  Minor damage to both vehicles.

 

306pm - Vehicle fire on 101st Street.  Fire contained quickly by North Battleford Fire Department, but vehicle sustained significant damage.  Appears to have been started by a cigarette.

 

559pm - Report of a male causing problems at a residence on 101st Street.  Members attended and kept the peace as subject was packing to move out, reported to have been argumentative and violent.

 

617pm - Intoxicated, unwanted guest reported on 102nd Street.  Subject left when police called.

 

724pm - Report of a youth smashing a vehicle up with a frying pan.  13 year old female was arrested on scene and is facing a charge of Mischief and new allegation of a violation of a Conditional Discharge Order.

 

1015pm - Noise/Loud Party complaint on St Laurent Drive.  Suspects warned.

 

1126pm - Attempted theft from a business, reported to be four suspicious males who left area in a white van.  Patrols negative.

 

1147pm - Vehicle reported stolen from 114th Street.  Suspect known to owner.  Suspect involved in a collision with the vehicle at approximately 530am and was arrested on scene by members.  29 year old male facing charges that included Impaired Driving and Driving over .08, Taking a vehicle without owner's consent and Driving while Disqualified.  Remanded into custody to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on January 27th at 930am.

 

2014.01.26

220am - Report of an assault with a weapon on 99th Street.  Male suspect is alleged to have struck victim in the head with a beer bottle and fled area.  Victim transported to hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.  Possible suspect has been identified.  Investigation in ongoing.

 

229am - Report of a disturbance on Territorial Drive north, group of individuals fighting.  Things calmed when members attended, fight appears to have been consensual.

 

1118am - Damage to a hotel room reported, occurring some time overnight.

 

1151am - 53 year old male arrested for public intoxication after complaint of intoxicated individual(s) on Railway Avenue East.

 

253pm - Suspicious persons, 3 youth reported to be trespassing through yards on Mackenzie King Crescent.  Not located.

 

240pm - Assault reported.  Occurred in the early morning hours at a residence on St Laurent Drive.  Suspect known to victim.

 

250pm - Mischief to property on St Laurent Drive.  A light bulb broken and fire extinguisher blown off in a business.  No suspects identified.

 

2014.01.27

1227am - 49 year old male arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with an Undertaking, found intoxicated on Railway Avenue East.

 

127am - Complaint of possible shot fired in area of Dunning Crescent.  No additional complaints received and search of area negative.
