White Butte RCMP
On Friday, December 6th at approximately 11:45 am, a 34 year old male showed up at the White Butte RCMP detachment after being picked up on Highway #1 by a passing motorist. The 34 year old male reported that he had just been in an altercation in a cabin at a business in the RM of Edenwold, SK. The 34 year old male was in need of medical attention due to the injuries he had sustained in the altercation. An ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital in Regina for treatment of his injuries.
Meanwhile, RCMP in White Butte received a call from the Regina Police Service who indicated they were attending to a call at a hospital in Regina where the other person involved in the altercation was being treated for injuries that he had sustained. The injuries sustained by this 32 year old male were serious in nature but not believed to be life threatening.
The scene of the altercation, in the RM of Edenwold, was examined by members of the Forensic Identification Unit of the RCMP as well as members of the White Butte detachment. Also assisting in this investigation were members from the RCMP’s Provincial General Investigation Section (GIS) out of Regina.
The 34 year old male was released from hospital after being treated for his injuries. He was arrested at the Hospital and returned to the custody of White Butte Detachment. The 32 year old male remained in hospital overnight for the treatment of his injuries. Both men were known to each other.
As a result of the investigation to date, the 34 year old male has been charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation. He is identified as John FROST of Duncan, British Columbia. He has been remanded and is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday, December 9th in Regina Provincial Court.
The ‘passing motorist’ that picked up the 34 year old, John FROST, may very well have saved his life due to the injuries sustained, the remote location, and the severe cold on this day. Unfortunately, RCMP, or the 34 year old, are unable to thank ‘the passing motorist’ as he dropped FROST off and quickly left the detachment before police could speak with him (as they were attending to the injured 34 year old). Should this ‘passing motorist’ be located through this media release, he is asked to contact the White Butte RCMP.
Please be advised that on December 5th, 2013. The Saskatoon Police Service located and arrested Jeffrey Ryan Wolverine in Saskatoon. Jeffrey Wolverine remains in custody and is scheduled for a Show cause hearing at 10:00 am on December 9th, 2013 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
The Patuanak RCMP would like to thank the media, Saskatoon Police Service, and all the concerned citizens that called in tips. Without the help of all the involved the accused arrest would most likely not have happened as expeditiously as it did.
RCMP Major Crimes Unit North along with members of the Nipawin RCMP detachment have arrested a 33 year old male from Garrick, Saskatchewan in relation to the death of a 3 year old child last year on December 4, 2012.
Shane PASHKE has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and has been remanded to appear in court Monday December 9th, 2013 at 9:00 a.m, in Provincial Court at Melfort, Saskatchewan.
