The Prince Albert Sharks Swim Club hosted both the provincial “A” championships for girls 11 years of age and older and for boys 12-and-over along with the Junior Cup for younger swimmers on the weekend at the Frank Dunn Pool. More than 140 swimmers from 10 different clubs took part in the event which was open to competitors who had previously obtained “A” standard times in the various swimming disciplines and were looking to get “AA” times so that they could qualify for the Man-Sask meet in two weeks in Regina. The Saskatoon Goldfins were the medal leaders after Saturday’s events while the Sharks were the runaway leaders in points for the provincial “A” competitions. The Goldfins also held a healthy advantage in the Junior Cup standings with results from Sunday’s events unavailable at press time. Shown in the photo are swimmers taking their mark on the starting block during early Saturday competitions with competitors from the previous race waiting in the pool until the next heat was underway.
