Larry Fladager won an extremely close race in Wednesday’s election for reeve of the Rural Municipality of Buckland.

He received 280 votes, just three more than opponent Ray Funk in unofficial results. Ken Anderson finished third with 180 votes.

Incumbent reeve Wes Stubbs did not seek re-election.

In the RM of Prince Albert, a close race was also seen in Division 6.

There, Michel Ethier, the incumbent councillor, had 69 votes in the unofficial tally, Barney Bartley had 60 and Palmer Bilash had three.

In Division 2, Paul Rybka, the incumbent, won with 118 votes to Jim Ludwig’s 44.

Gerald Parks was acclaimed as councillor in Division 4.

Mel from SK writes: Thank GOD that Ray Funk didn't win. That's the last thing we need: an NDP spendthrift has-been vying for another kick at the cat. A gigantic WHEW with these results.

Close Eye from Buckland, Sask writes: A vote for Fladager is a vote for somebody with a hidden agenda. Just do the right thing when the people step up a talk at public meetings. Anderson did and wasn't afraid of a bully.

Joe from SK writes: Good luck, Buckland! Have you seen the parking lots at SIAST where Fladager is in charge? Expect the same for your RM!

Joannie from SK writes: What makes Fladager a good choice? I have no idea.

Funk is a decent man and a very hard worker. It's too bad that four more voters didn't get out and vote for him.
