Police are warning local citizens to beware of a recent scam, which claims to offer a winning prize.
Letters sent by mail, e-mail, or phone solicitation will claim someone has won a large cash prize, and will ask for the person's personal information, including social security and banking information. The scam may also require a deposit to access the funds.
Police warn to be cautious of any prize won without purchasing at ticket or entering your name in the contest.
Police say the most recent known scam was sent from the Santa Lucia Security Company S.A.
