The under-16 boys' Prince Albert Celtic soccer team warmed up for this weekend's Tier 2 provincials with an exhibition game this week.

In an exhibition game against the White Fish under-16 and under-14 boys, the Celtic worked out the kinks before the provincials.

Prince Albert heads to Lloydminster this morning and starts the tournament with a game tonight against Saskatoon.

Celtic coach Ajay Krishan started off the exhibition game Tuesday night by reminding his players how important it was to give a full effort. They were also reminded that they will be representing Prince Albert.

Krishan said the boys should have a solid shot to take home the gold medal this weekend.

The Celtic have played in three tournaments already this year and have been getting better each time - Krishan said he hopes they hit their peak this weekend.

His team's strengths are on the defensive side and goalkeeping.

"We need to get our offence rolling," he said.

Krishan said the Celtic have played many of the other provincials-bound teams before and they are all quality clubs.

"Any team is capable of beating any team," he said."

It will come down to focus and determination, and he believes his boys will show those qualities.

Celtic defender Adam Aniskiewicza has only one goal in mind for the provincial tournament - "I want to win."

The 14-year old said that as long as the team works together, communicates and doesn't argue with officials, they should do well.

Discipline is an issue they have been battling with this season, he said.

Eric Johnston a 16-year old midfielder from Big River, is also looking for the top prize.

"I'm hoping to go all the way, because that would be cool," he said."

Johnston and Aniskiewicz both say there will be a couple of tough teams on the opposite side, but they know the Celtic have the talent to beat their opponents.

Krishan said the offence is what will win or lose them the title.

They need to win loose balls and "take advantage of scoring opportunities," he said.

The boys played another exhibition game this week and held a final practice in preparation for their trip to Lloydminster.
