Stop being so anal. After all it is a public park. Stop screaming at those that are carefully walking right on the edge of the trail. Maybe if someone is trashing the groves, but not when walking right on the edge.
And as far as snowshoes, with the walkers weight spread out what damage is it doing????
If you want exclusive rights, buy your own land and set your own rules .... Until then learn to share. -

WHEW, some of you have your hat on way TOO TIGHT! It just boils down to the sign says SKI TRAIL, plain and simple.Other signs say WALKING TRAIL and SNOWSHOE TRAIL, I wonder what that means??? But YOU are right, YOU don't have to ski in the park, there are miles of fields and bush lines.

To AnotherParkUser, Actually I did ski on the trails occasionally... And I've paid my membership or left a donations the years I have. But I've been verbally attacked enough times to tick me off and not want to pay anymore. I've been yelled at when snowshoeing and not even on the trails. They don't own the park so why are even roads closed to make ski-only zones.....
And to tell the truth, I much prefer going out skiing/snowshoeing on my own, getting away from the fools who think they own everything. Why go on groomed trails, I take my old wide skis and camera and go my own way, but back when we were showing the kids we used the park.
I started skiing without groomed trails and will likely after their group folds too....
And FRED, I have helped cleaned trails, In the summer when walking I take the time to remove fallen trees if I can move them.
I've taken my bow saw with me more than once when I knew there was obsticals on the trail.
Sounds like you guys might just be the reason occasional users refuse to pay. I know the rudeness we've faced is why we won't. -

Have any of you walkers groomed a trail for yourselves??? Its not a point of who owns or uses what part of the park,it is just please don't walk on a SKI TRAIL.The SKI club made and cleared the trail, not the walkers or snowshoers,so Im not sure how you say that skiers don't in some small way own those trails.SKI trails and there are SNOWSHOE trails, there is a difference. If the skiers had not groomed the trails you would not walk on them its just that simple. Please respect all outdoor persons.

Dear Just Me and Park User ,
Would you walk on the ski trails if they weren't packed? Highly doubtful. Prove it by making your own walking trail beside the packed surface or a totally new trail, instead of destroying someone else's hard work.
Of course it is a large park ... so MAKE YOUR OWN TRAILS, as Fred has commented. The trails are packed for SKIING, not your activity, no matter how you justify it. How exactly would you know that you are not damaging the trail since you don't ski OR groom the trails? It appears that all you are prepared to do is profit from other people's work and call names.
And, Just Me , as far as sharing, how exactly did you share in the work of preparing and packing the trail? Take, take, take is more like it.
I am totally floored by the selfishness of you people that feel you should be able to use the trails in whatever way you want to, even though you have done nothing to prepare the trail. Do you also walk the Cooke Golf Course in the summer since it is a public facility? How about the soccer pitches during league games?
Unfortunately, ParkUser, you are not very observant. Two walking trails by the Cosmo Lodge are packed for walkers at the Ski Club's expense. They are not groomed as often as the ski trails, because ... guess what! ... people like you don't contribute to the grooming expenses!! -

Make your own walking trail then. Cut ,saw ,clear and groom your own.The signs say SKI TRAIL! If you walk on it you are stupid or can't read.Try walking down the trail that says FREE WAY in Saskatoon! See where that takes you.As they raise money and do this free of charge!!

Kudos to Just Me. The Ski Club needs to realize that they do not own the park. I spend a lot of time out there also and I do not walk on the classic track that the ski club has groomed. I have also come across some very rude skiers over the years who have yelled at me and who have warned me to stay off the trails even when I wasn't on them. Come on skiers - this is a large park and there is room for everyone to make use of it in whatever way they want to.
As far as the groomed trail for walkers - I have not yet seen a trail that has been groomed by the ski club for walkers. Yes, there are walking trails that skidoos have travelled on, but as far as grooming, I have yet to see it. Don't try to take credit for things that you haven't done. I have helped to cut trees that have fallen on trails - big deal - I'm not looking for a medal.
The moral of the story - there is room for everyone - be kind to everyone you run into out there as someday you might need some help and because of your selfishness they might keep on walking by. -

Yes it is too bad that some people can't realize the damage they do to ski trails when they walk, or snowmobile on them. Why would you snow shoe on a groomed packed trail, you could wear your running shoes on them, kinda defeats the purpose of SNOW SHOES??As always there are some who are just stupid about things.Keep up the good work P.A. Ski Club.
