The road has been a familiar place for the Prince Albert Raiders.

The last time the Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings Brendan Guhle (4) scored the game-winning goal. Tonight the Raiders are in Brandon for the last time this season.
The team has played seven of its previous ten games in opposing rinks, racking up a 3-2-2-0 visiting record over that span. Now, after winning their last two games at home last week against the Prince George Cougars and the Swift Current Broncos, the boys are back on the bus.
Tonight the Prince Albert Raiders are in Brandon for the final time this season. Game time is 7 p.m. The match is the first in a two-games-in-two-nights road trip that will see the Raiders take on the Moose Jaw Warriors tomorrow night.
So far the Raiders’ season series with the Wheat Kings is split 2-2, with Brandon winning the last two games. The teams wrap up their season series on Feb. 21 in Prince Albert. The Wheat Kings have outscored the Raiders 15-9 in their last four meetings.
This season the Raiders and Wheat Kings have been fighting for the top spot in the East Division, with Brandon pulling ahead to lead P.A. by eight points, 72 to 64.
The teams’ last match was their lowest-scoring contest to date this season. Wheat Kings netminder Jordan Papirny turned away 33 shots to lead his team to a 3-0 shutout win over P.A. at the Art Hauser Centre on Jan. 22. Reid Duke, Macoy Erkamps and Ivan Provorov each had two points in the match.
The Wheat Kings have one of the most potent offenses in the league, their 208 goals second only to the 216 goals scored by the Lethbridge Hurricanes. However, despite their collective goals total, the Wheat Kings only have one player -- Nolan Patrick at No. 12 with 24 goals and 62 points -- among the top 20 scorers in the league. This is indicative of the team’s balanced scoring. Brandon has three players with at least 20 goals and six players with more than 40 points so far.
The Raiders also face the latest WHL Player of the Week in Brandon defenceman Provorov. Last week Provorov scored two goals and nine points and earned a plus-six rating as the Wheat Kings notched three straight wins against Moose Jaw, Prince George and Medicine Hat. He is also No. 3 in scoring among defencemen with 12 goals and 50 points in 43 games. He also leads his team with a plus-39 rating.
On the Raiders’ end Reid Gardiner has been leading his team’s offence all season, and currently sits fourth in league scoring with 32 goals and 72 points in 52 games.
The Raiders’ next game is tomorrow in Moose Jaw against the Warriors. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
