The Prince Albert Raiders left Seattle with a point, falling to the Thunderbirds 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday at the ShoWare Center.

Down 3-2 with less than two minutes to go, Raiders defenceman Josh Morrissey forced overtime, where Thunderbirds left wing Alexander Delnov delivered the sudden-death dagger two-and-a-half minutes into the extra frame.

Thomas Andrlik scored his second career goal while Leon Draisaitl continued his torrid scoring pace, extending his point streak to 10 games.

Thunderbirds centre Mathew Barzal, who was selected first overall in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft, two picks before Raiders defenceman Brendan Guhle, netted a pair of goals.

Between the pipes, both Raiders backstop Nick McBride and former midget-AAA Prince Albert Minto Taran Kozun stopped 40 shots, lifting the T-Birds to their 38th win of the season.

With the overtime loss, the Raiders gained a point in the standings, good enough to surpass the Red Deer Rebels for the Eastern Conference’s eighth and final playoff spot with nine games to go in the regular season schedule.

The Raiders are right back at it on Wednesday, taking on the Everett Silvertips at the Comast Arena before they return home on Saturday to face the Kootenay Ice at the Art Hauser Centre.

RAIDER NOTES: Not dressed for the Raiders on Tuesday were Brendan Guhle, Jayden Hart and Tim Vanstone … Morrissey’s game-tying goal late in the third period was also a record breaker. With his 23rd goal of the season, Morrissey eclipsed Emmanuel Viveiros’ franchise record of 22 goals by a defenceman in a single WHL season … Since being shipped to the Thunderbirds from the Kamloops Blazers earlier this season, former Minto Kozun has thrived, posting a record of 12-4-1 with four shutouts … Draisaitl has scored a explosive 22 points in his last 10 games, lifting him to seventh in league scoring, four behind fellow 2014 NHL Draft prospect, Ice centre Sam Reinhart.
