The Prince Albert Raiders have brought a familiar face back to the city to serve as their third goalie during the playoffs.
Nick McBride, 15, is back after a stint with the team in late November. The Maple Ridge, B.C., product spent the season with the Vancouver North East Chiefs of the British Columbia Major Midget Hockey League.
He played in 19 games in midget with the Chiefs, recording a 12-7-0 record while posting a 3.74 goals against average.
McBride arrived back in Prince Albert on Sunday and will be here until the season ends.
He’s the third member of the team’s 2012 draft to join the team this month.
Defenceman Brendan Guhle, 15, the third overall pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft, will be also with the Raiders for the rest of the season. He joined the team briefly during the Christmas break.
Forward Matteo Gennaro, 15, was picked 41st overall in the second round and went home on the weekend after spending a few days with the team.
McBride, a 6’3”, 180-pound netminder, was drafted by the Raiders in the second round, 23rd overall in the 2012 Western Hockey League.
The Raiders’ playoff roster is now at the limit of 25 players, with three goalies, eight defencemen and 14 forwards.
Meanwhile, the team’s playoff schedule has been announced. The Raiders visit the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Games three and four would be at the Art Hauser Centre on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27.
If necessary, game five returns to Red Deer on Friday, March 29, the Raiders host game six on Sunday, March 31 and game seven would be played in Red Deer on Tuesday, April 2.
