The Prince Albert Raiders have invited the future to their WHL party.

The club announced Monday that two of their top picks in the most recent WHL bantam draft will be joining them this week after their Alberta Midget Hockey League seasons ended.

Defenceman Brendan Guhle, 15, the third overall pick in the 2012 draft, will be with the Raiders for the rest of the season. He joined the team briefly during the Christmas break.

Forward Matteo Gennaro, 15, was picked 41st overall in the second round and will be with the team through the weekend.

The Gennaro pick was acquired in a trade with Kamloops in which overage captain Brandon Herrod was dealt on Dec. 31, 2011 for Logan McVeigh and the second rounder.

McVeigh was subsequently dealt to Medicine Hat with Zach Hodder for Jayden Hart and Dylan Busenius.

In 30 games with the St. Albert Raiders this season, Gennaro scored nine goals and added 12 assists with 32 penalty minutes.

Meanwhile, Guhle scored a goal and added four assists in nine playoff games with the Sherwood Park Kings. He had an assist in two pre-season games with the Raiders in September.

The Raiders visit Brandon on Wednesday before hosting the Blades on Friday and Saturday to end the regular season.

Season ticket holders are reminded to purchase their playoff packages by Saturday to secure their seat for the playoffs.
