Carsen Chubak’s dream season has earned him some Hobey Baker Award discussion.

The Prince Albert goaltender has had an amazing year for the NCAA’s Niagara University Purple Eagles, which has led to his name being included on the initial list of 77 candidates.

On their website, purpleeagles.com, the team has him prominently displayed in the hopes of getting fan votes for him at http://votehobey.com/.

Fortunately for him, the award is actually decided by coaches. The leaders on the fan site primarily come from bigger schools.

Chubak is now second in the nation with a goals against average of 1.46. He is first in both shutouts, with five, and save percentage, at .954.

Chubak is a five-time Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week this season and the AHA Goalie of the Month for both October and November. He has played in 17 of their 19 games.

The team is 11-3-4 and ranked 17th in the NCAA.
