Raiders send down three players

The Prince Albert Raiders are down to 24 players after reassigning three on Tuesday.

Sixteen-year-old goaltender Rylan Parenteau, 17-year-old forward Luke Mahura and 18-year-old forward Jesse Knowler were all sent down.

Parenteau appeared in two games for the Raiders in the 2012-2013

Western Hockey League preseason, stopping 33 of 37 shots faced in just under 60 minutes of action. The 53rd overall pick by the Raiders in the 2011 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft will return to the Saskatoon

Mahura played in 39 games with the Raiders last year, scoring one goal and recording six penalty minutes. In four pre-season games, the St. Albert, Alta., product recorded a goal and two assists. The Raiders third round selection in 2010 will report to the Albert Junior Hockey League. 

Knowler dressed for 57 games with the Raiders in 2011-2012, contributing a goal and five assists. In two exhibition games, the left-winger recorded an assist. The Castlegar, B.C., native will report to the British Columbia Hockey League. 

The Raiders roster now includes two goaltenders, nine defencemen and 13 forwards.  

The team’s home opener is Friday at the Art Hauser Centre against this year’s Memorial Cup hosts, the Saskatoon Blades.
