It’s the end of the road for the five Saskatchewan golfers competing at the 2014 Canadian Junior Boy’s championship in Niagara Falls, Ont.

After round two of the tournament was suspended due to weather on Wednesday, the junior boys picked up where they left off on Thursday as the field was cut in half heading into the third round of the 72-hole event.

Prince Albert product Cory Selander, along with Saskatoon’s Roman Timmerman, Shaunavon’s Corey Bailey, Madison’s Kyle Wiebe and Kade Kohnson of Yorkton all failed to make the cut and were eliminated.

Wiebe finished leading the pack of Saskatchewan golfers at the Legends of the Niagara’s Battlefield golf course, shooting 76 in round two to finish with a score of 154.

The lone Prince Albert resident competing in the tournament was not far behind, finishing the event along with Timmerman with a total of 156.

Johnson finished up the tournament just one stroke behind Selander and Timmerman after shooting a 77-stroke round two.

Meanwhile on the girl’s side, Prince Albert’s Brooke Hobson kept things going for Saskatchewan in Canadian Junior Girls action at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club in Thornhill, Ont.

The field at the CJGC was also cut in half following round two on Wednesday with Hobson avoiding elimination while fellow P.A. golfer Kayla Sawchuk and Regina’s Brooke Hill were eliminated.

After shooting rounds of 87 and 80 earlier this week, Hobson shot an 83 on Thursday as she finished the day in a two-way tie with Quebec City product Sarah Eve- Rheaume for 62nd place.

As she has throughout the tournament, Ottawa product Grace St-Germain sits No. 1 on the leaderboard after shooting a one-below-par 71 on the 6,666-yard course located just north of Toronto.

The fourth and final round of the tournament will kick off on Friday with Hobson teeing off at 8 a.m. local time.
