The Pee Wee Prince Albert River Riders played it close for the first half of their 2013 Kinsmen Football League season but ultimately fell 34-7 to Saskatoon’s Holt Bulldogs on Wednesday.

The game was scoreless through a quarter and the Bulldogs led 8-0 at the half.

The Bulldogs then added 26 more points to go up 34-0 before running back Aidan Anderson scored the River Riders’ first touchdown of the season.

River Rider slotback Miranda Bellisle later contributed a 70-yard run, but the drive stalled with a fumbled snap on the Bulldogs’ five-yard line.

The Bantam and Pee Wee River Riders both play their home openers on Sunday at Max Clunie Field in Prime Ministers Park against Saskatoon’s Arns Falcons.

The Pee Wees play at 1 p.m., with the Bantams starting at 3 p.m.
