Dragons lose regular-season finale

The Saskatchewan Rivers Dragons completed their North Saskatchewan Rugby Union regular schedule on Tuesday with a tough 24-0 loss to the Saskatoon Springboks in a game played in chilly winds at Max Clunie Field. The Springboks scored a pair of converted trys in the first half and then added a pair of unconverted scores in the final frame to register the win. The loss drops the Dragons’ record to 3-3 on the season and sets up a rematch between the Dragons and Springboks in the opening round of the playoffs on Saturday in Saskatoon. The All-Blacks will face the Wallabies in the other opening tilt with the winners meeting in the gold-medal game later that day while the losers will square off in the bronze-medal contest. Shown in the photo is action from Tuesday’s game with Prince Albert (red jerseys) and Saskatoon fighting for control of the ball during a lineout.
