Triathlon Club hosts pre-Father's Day event

The Prince Albert Triathlon Club had a busy weekend with first hosting their annual Spring Fling on Saturday at Little Red River Park and then following that up with a pre-Father’s Day mini-triathlon on Sunday at the Frank Dunn Pool and Prime Ministers’ Park area. Oleg Kougiya from Saskatoon was the first runner to cross the finish line on Sunday while 13-year-old Matt Gill from Prince Albert followed a short time later. A total of 10 participants were in the event, which was composed of six men and four women, with each having to swim 300 metres in the pool before riding their bike for 15 kilometres and finishing with a four-kilometre run. The top female participant was Carman Doyle of Prince Albert. Next up for the local club is the Frank Dunn Triathlon scheduled for Aug. 10 at Waskesiu Lake. That event will feature a 1,500-metre swim, 62-kilometre bike ride and 13-kilometre run.
