The Prince Albert Predators will face a stiff test in trying to extend their Prairie Gold Junior Lacrosse League winning streak to five games when they host the defending league champion Regina Rifles on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena.
The Predators are coming off an impressive three-game sweep of games played at the inaugural festival last weekend in Regina, but the Rifles are also on a roll as they lead the league with a perfect 8-0-0 record.
Tyler Tilford continued his strong play with nine goals and nine assists in the three games at the festival but his 19-10-29 totals for the season pale in comparison to the 52 goals and 23 assists recorded by Sam Murphy of the Saskatoon Smash and the 67 points produced by Tristan Frei of the Rifles. Taylor Frei of the Rifles is also having a strong campaign scoring 20 goals and setting up 20 others in the eight games played.
Prince Albert, which is presently tied for second place with the Smash, will complete a busy weekend with a trip to Saskatoon on Sunday to face the Steelers before winding down the regular schedule next weekend with road games in Regina against the Rifles and then in Yorkton.
The Predators complete the regular season on June 22 with a home game against the Regina Riot. The playoffs are set to begin the following week.
