St. Mary High School’s Hung Le Tram came up just short in his quest for back-to-back Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association men’s singles badminton titles on the weekend as he had to settle for a silver medal this time around when he fell in straight sets in the championship final.

Le Tram breezed through the preliminary round in Warman defeating opponents from Biggar 2-0, Regina Riffel 2-0 and Saskatoon’s Walter Murray 2-1 and followed that up with a straight-set win over Regina Luther before having his run as champion come to an end against Saskatoon’s Bishop Mahoney.

Seika Toida of St. Mary was also entered in the event competing in women’s singles, but her 0-3 record in preliminary round-robin action denied her a spot in the playoff round.

Winning the other titles were: women’s singles – Regina Thom; mixed doubles – Frontier; men’s doubles – Saskatoon’s Evan Hardy; women’s doubles – Wilkie.
