The Prince Albert A&W Bears had a dominant third period and as a result are just one win away from advancing to the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League semifinals following a 3-1 triumph over the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox on Monday.
Tylor Lindsay, with her third goal of the post-season, Morgan Willoughby and Breanne Neudorf all scored in the final 20 minutes to give Prince Albert a commanding 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five opening round match with the Hounds.
Jessica Vance was brilliant in the Prince Albert goal stopping 31 shots as Notre Dame came out fast and furious after losing the opening game of the series 3-2 in double overtime on Saturday.
The Bears, who directed 20 shots at Kylee Styles in the Notre Dame net, will be looking to complete the sweep on Thursday when Game 3 is played at the Art Hauser Centre. Game time that night is 6 p.m.
Should the Bears win they will advance to play the Weyburn Gold Wings in the next round as all three of the other quarter-finals were completed in the minimum three games. Weyburn swept past the Melville Prairie Fire, the Regina Rebels had little trouble in eliminating the Battlefords Sharks and the Swift Current Wildcats surprised the Saskatoon Stars.
If a fourth game is needed it will be back in Wilcox on Saturday and a fifth and deciding contest would return to Prince Albert on Friday.
