It was a pretty quiet week for developmental hockey teams in Prince Albert, but the calm before the storm will end shortly as league playoffs are set to begin at the end of the month for the NAPA Raiders, Venice House Raiders and Dmyterko Enterprises Raiders.
The NAPA Raiders had just one game this week and once again they couldn’t find a solution for the Humboldt Broncos.
For the fourth time in a month the Broncos prevailed, winning 9-5 on Sunday and in the process lowered the NAPA Raiders’ record to 9-8-2 in Centre-Four Hockey League pee wee division action.
Ethan Beaulac, Braden Schneider, Jackson Hope, Kevin Ledoux and Jack Kowblick scored for the Raiders, who will host Melfort on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Steuart Arena.
The Venice House Raiders were idle on the weekend, but a trip to Saskatoon earlier in the week resulted in a 4-3 triumph over the Bandits and with that win they moved into a share for second place in the North Division standings of the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League.
Landon Markovich and Riley Sawchuk each had two goals in that contest against the Bandits and the Raiders will be back in Saskatoon this Tuesday to face the Generals before they have a showdown with the North East Wolf Pack on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena. Venice House, which is battling the Wolf Pack for second spot, will conclude their season on Friday in Pilot Butte against the Prairie Storm.
The Dmyterko Enterprises Raiders were also idle this week, but they will get back on the ice on Thursday when they host Beardy’s at 6:15 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena. The Raiders, who are 14-12-4 in Centre-Four Hockey League midget division action, will then finish off their regular campaign with a final home game on Feb. 23 against the Battlefords.
