The annual Kelly Smith Sweet Sixteen Memorial senior girl's basketball tournament is currently underway at St. Mary High School with 16 teams vying for the championship. The host St. Mary Marauders opened the event with a 43-22 triumph over Lake Lenore while the Carlton Crusaders were playing Melfort in an afternoon draw. St. Mary gets back on the hardwood on Friday at 7 p.m. when they will face Clavet in a championship-event quarter-final tilt while Carlton could be back in action at 8:30 p.m. should they hold on to beat Melfort. Action continues all day on Saturday with the bronze-medal contest scheduled for a 6 p.m. start followed by the gold-medal clash at 7:30 p.m. North Battleford Composite High School is the defending champion.
