High School Christmas Curling Classic wraps up

The Foam Lake boy’s team was the only rink to go undefeated at the fourth annual Prince Albert High School Christmas Curling Classic on the weekend at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club. It was the second straight year that the Foam Lake boys accomplished that feat as a total of 31 teams from central and northern Saskatchewan took part in the event. Teams were composed of all boys, all girls or were mixed and there were no separate divisions as opponents faced each other accordingly, depending on how the draw played out. Winners of the other events were as follows: B-event – Strasbourg girls; C-event – Debden mixed; D-event – Maidstone mixed; E-event – Blaine Lake boys; F-event – Debden girls; G-event – Strasbourg mixed; H-event – Borden mixed. Prince Albert was represented by teams from both Carlton Comprehensive High School and St. Mary High School with the St. Mary mixed team, which was skipped by Melanie Heleta, shown in the photo bringing in a stone during their final game on Saturday. Joining Heleta were third Brooke Zawislak, second Josh Glabus and lead Simon Kardos.
