The Prince Albert Mintos went to sleep on Sunday holding a two-game advantage in their best-of-five Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League playoff series with the Notre Dame Argos.

The only thing was they didn’t know where they were going to be sleeping.

A severe winter storm in southern Saskatchewan delayed the Mintos’ arrival in Wilcox for Game 2 of the quarter-final match-up, but after the starting time was pushed back Prince Albert was ready to take control of the series as they skated to a 6-1 triumph.

Lance Yaremchuk led the Mintos with two goals and an assist while Jason Duret, with a goal and two helpers, Lochlan Morrison, Zac Paziuk and Teal Sobkowicz completed the attack.

Lane Michasiw made his first-ever Midget AAA playoff start and it was one he will remember as he turned aside 29 of 30 shots to record the victory.

Prince Albert was hoping to reach Regina on Sunday after the game where they would take shelter for the night before attempting to make it home later on Monday.

The Mintos will then try to complete the sweep on Tuesday when they host the Argos at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.

Elsewhere in the league, the Saskatoon Contacts have grabbed a 2-0 lead on the Battlefords Stars while the Moose Jaw Generals and Saskatoon Blazers are deadlocked at one game apiece as are the Regina Pat Canadians and Yorkton Harvest.
