Brooke Hobson’s goal with two minutes to play in regulation time lifted the Prince Albert A&W Bears to a 3-2 victory over the Pacific Ravens at the Mac’s Invitational midget hockey tournament in Calgary on Friday.

The win improves Prince   Albert’s record to 1-0-1 with their next game in preliminary round-robin action scheduled for today against the Spruce Grove Saints. The Bears will complete the round-robin on Sunday when they take on the Calgary Bruins.

Lexi Van Camp and Morgan Willoughby also scored for Prince Albert on Friday in a game that saw the Bears outshoot the Ravens 62-24. Sara Olson picked up the win in the Prince Albert goal.

On the boy’s side of the draw, the Prince Albert Mintos had the day off on Friday and will be looking for their first win of the tournament today when they face the Cariboo Cougars.

The Mintos are 0-2-0 after losses to the Winnipeg Wild and Edmonton Southside Athletic Club earlier in the week. It has been a tough week for the club as long-time equipment manager Dan (Cobra) Taylor fell seriously ill on the bus trip en route to Calgary and is in a Saskatoon hospital.

The Mintos, who reached the semifinals of the tournament a year ago, will complete the round-robin on Sunday with a game against the Calgary North Stars. Prince Albert has a very remote chance of advancing to the playoff round, which starts on Monday.
