A Prince Albert softball player was a big hit at the 2012 U16 Girls Bantam Fast Pitch Championships last week in Brantford, Ont.
Jessica Vance was picked up by the Saskatoon Hustlers and became the first Saskatchewan player chosen to the tournament all-star team in years.
Vance was named an all-star outfielder as she slugged her way to a .533 batting average in the qualifying round, which was second overall in the tournament.
Kendra Padget of Prince Albert was also picked up for the team, which finished fifth out of seven teams in the preliminary round during a week of action plagued by frequent rain delays.
The team then beat Manitoba 9-0 in the semi-final and edged Quebec 5-2 in the final to win the B-side event.
Padget threw the shutout in the semi and also chipped in three innings on the mound in the final.
