P.A. police dog training

The Prince Albert Police Service showed off its canine unit training program on Thursday. Lead instructor Sgt. Jon Bergen led guests through different tests the dogs must pass with help from their human handlers, including obedience, agility, drug detection and biting. Obedience is the foundation on which all the other skills rest. Three officers and their furry partners were present: Conservation Officer Jamie Chartrand and his Belgian Melanois, Jax; Const. Dallas Stender and the black-coated Loki; and Const. Clint Rudderham with his black/brown/grey-coloured dog, Jaeger. Herald photos by Matt Gardner
