Local heavy metal bands turned the volume up to 11 on Aug. 1 for Metal Heatwave, which provided a much-needed release for the city’s headbangers. The Arts Centre hosted Prince Albert’s first metal concert in some time, with performers including Softbox, Smiles In Sickness, Druidus and EchoSerenity. Audience members could be seen headbanging and slamming their way through the moshpit. The show was temporarily halted when a circuit breaker blew one song into EchoSerenity’s set, suggesting that the bands were rocking too hard for the electrical system to handle.
