Are Prince Albert residents getting their money's worth?

I read and found Tyler Clarke's story (A tale of two city halls and their wages, Aug. 21, Daily Herald) interesting but not surprising given I'm a bit of a cynic. I'm not sure what our Mayor does that would justify 30 plus per cent higher salary than his counterpart.

I wonder if the Moose Jaw mayor receives a $750 monthly car allowance.  In addition it would be interesting to know how our taxes and other utilities like our water bills compare to those of the taxpayers of Moose Jaw.

I had occasion to spend a few days in their fine city last summer. I found it to have considerably more to offer than P.A. The streets were much smoother, the downtown core much cleaner and more vibrant than ours. They had flowers adorning the streets everywhere. There were great restaurants, numerous galleries, shops and other interesting sites to visit.

My wife and I strolled the streets in the evening without of any trepidation. Obviously they are doing something we are not all for much less administrative cost to the residents. Guess it goes to show you that good ideas, good planning, and civic pride can be achieved at a reasonable cost.
