We have a little driving tip for some of the more impatient motorists among us.

This little tidbit comes a near accident witnessed by a Daily Herald staffer recently.

At a green light on Central Avenue and 28th Street East -- the intersection beside Kinsmen Arena -- northbound traffic was being held up by a driver waiting to make a left turn. An impatient driver near the back of the line decided that she needed to get where she was headed that moment so she went into the right lane, around the waiting car and headed into the intersection.

As fate would have it, an oncoming southbound car on the other side of the intersection was also making a left turn. The driver of that car slammed on the brakes, barely missed colliding with this woman as she went blasting through the intersection.

Impatience is hardly a virtue when you’re behind the wheel.

Give the intersection a chance to clear of left-turning vehicles can be a source of frustration but it beats causing an accident that can tie up an intersection for hours.
