Teen facing theft charges after fleeing stolen vehicle

A teenage girl is facing multiple charges after fleeing a stolen vehicle containing stolen property early Saturday morning.

Prince Albert police were dispatched at 8:36 a.m. to an alley in the 1700 block of 12th Street West to investigate a vehicle that had crashed into the divider posts that separate the street from the park.

The female driver of the vehicle had fled on foot. Officers arrived at the scene and determined that the car had been stolen overnight.

Numerous police officers arrived in the area and found a female matching the description in the 1200 block of 18th Street West. She attempted to flee but was apprehended after a short foot chase.

The suspect had property that belonged to the registered owner of the stolen vehicle in her possession.

A 17-year-old female now faces charges of theft of a motor vehicle and seven counts of possessing stolen property.
