A report of someone smashing out the front window of a residence led to police laying charges against two women early on Sunday.

Officers were initially dispatched to the 300 block of 12th Street East at 3:10 a.m. after receiving a complaint of damage that had just occurred.

The complainant told police they had just witnessed someone exit a red truck and smash out the front window of a residence (Prince Albert Police Sgt. Brandon Mudry said the accused believed that the residence belonged to someone else).

The witness was able to provide a plate number to police, which when checked revealed the vehicle to be stolen.

Numerous police officers responded to the area and located the vehicle driving within a block of the damaged window.

From the vehicle, police arrested seven females without incident. The driver and the passenger, both 20 years old, have been charged.

One woman has been charged with possession of stolen property and is set to make her first court appearance on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

The other woman has been charged with mischief and is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
