Police respond to youth riot

Police helped the staff deal with a riot at a youth facility north of Prince Albert on Sunday evening.

At 8:56 p.m. on Sunday, Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) responded to a disturbance complaint at a youth facility located north of the city.

Police were advised residents of the facility were not complying with staff demands and were damaging the facility.

After gaining entrance to the facility, the subjects of the disturbance attempted to barricade themselves in a room.

After diffusing the situation, police took four male youth between the ages of 14-17 into custody.

No one was injured in the incident but damage to the facility is estimated in the thousands of dollars.

The four youth are facing numerous charges, including Assault with a Weapon, Assault Peace Officer and Taking Part in a Riot.
