Prince Albert Provincial Court

A local man who is one of two accused in an April homicide was released from custody on Monday following a show-cause hearing at the Court of Queen’s Bench.

Speaking on Wednesday at Prince Albert Provincial Court, defence attorney Greg Chovin said the Crown was prepared to waive the attendance of the accused at the next court date.

The judge adjourned the case to Monday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m., when a discussion will take place regarding ways to streamline a preliminary hearing.

The case revolves around the death of Prince Albert resident Clayton Bear, 25, who died early on April 24 at a residence in the 500 block of 27th Street East.

Jordan Christopher Herron, 20, has been charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of break and enter.

A second man, 25-year-old Alberta resident Orren Johnson, is also facing the same charges in relation to Bear’s death.
