Ambulance responds to assaults, other incidents

During the weekend, Parkland Ambulance responded to 70 incidents. Of those, some of note are:

• At 4:54 a.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to an assault in the 600 block of 13th Street West. Paramedics cared for a 17-year-old female with minor injuries who was taken to the hospital for further care.

• At 2:17 a.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to an assault in the 400 block of 23rd Street East. A 38-year-old male with minor injuries was transported to the hospital for further care.

• At 1 p.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to an incident about 28 kilometres north of Prince Albert on Highway 2. A 28-year-old male with burns in serious condition was taken to the hospital. He was later transported to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon good and stable condition for further car.

• At 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to a boating incident at Waskesiu. A 59-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were boating and their craft capsized. They were rescued and assessed by paramedics but refused further medical treatment at the hospital.

• At 5:02 p.m. on Saturday, paramedics responded to an assault in the 500 block of Sixth Street East. A 20-year-old with minor injuries was taken to the hospital for further care.

• At 3:34 a.m. on Sunday, paramedics responded to an assault in the 500 block of 13th Street East. A 19-year-old male with minor injuries was taken to the hospital for further care.

Parkland Ambulance reminds people when working at home or the cottage do not take shortcuts -- read and follow instructions on all tools and products.

Do not use something for a job it is not designed to do, even if it may make the job quicker or easier because short cuts often lead to injury.

Also wear protective gear during all activities.
