The Kraft Celebration Tour local committee is already bringing awareness to their campaign.

Monster trucks and a twoonie swim brought people out to the Kinsmen Water Park on Thursday evening, which helped spread the message to vote for Prince Albert in the Kraft Celebration Tour on July 21-22.

“I think in this process these are the next two important days, the voting days,” said Curtis Olsen, recreation director for the city. “We just want to make people more aware of the voting times and making sure people are voting those two days and it will help in winning the $100,000.”

Prince Albert is competing against nine other communities across Canada for the $100,000 grand prize to help fix the slides at the water park.

“We need the city of Prince Albert and surrounding areas to help,” he said. “Shannon Hurl put that nomination in and I am grateful to her to take that time. We will try to support the nomination to get the slides back.”

Leading up to the voting days, the city is planning activities to try to help raise awareness of the campaign.

“Our staff here (at the water park) did a tremendous job coming up with different things, filling up kiddie pools with Kraft products and (other activities),” Olsen said. “Every night there will be something different going on here all with the idea of promoting the celebration tour.

“I think right until July 20 come to the water park -- there is always going to something fun going on.”

A couple of the drivers from the Monster X Tour, which will be held at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre on Friday and Saturday, were at the water park on Thursday with one of their trucks, signing autographs.

“I want to give a thank you to Monster X Tour. I look around tonight and it is a good turnout,” Olsen said. “We are working together -- they are supporting their event that is coming up and getting people to the park and it is only going to make more people aware of what we are doing through the Celebration Tour.”

Although they have more time to get volunteers since the celebration tour will not be coming through the city until Aug. 20, Olsen said there are already many people offering a hand.

“I have actually had a lot of calls at the office already and some emails from people so honestly for the amount of time it has been out there I think it is going pretty well,” he said. “Tonight we put up a little volunteer signup table and stuff but the big thing tonight is getting it out and getting people aware for July 21-22.”

He is already grateful for all the support the community is showing and hopes it continues in the future.
