Young lance runners begin their long journey around the province on Tuesday after a ceremony beside the Senator Allen Bird Gym in Prince Albert. The 10 runners, who were chosen from across the province for their healthy lifestyle and commitment to school, will be zigzagging across Saskatchewan but arriving in Regina in three weeks for the opening of the North American Indigenous Games. Prince Albert was chosen as the starting point because the city hosted the games in 1993. The Regina games will be held from July 20-27 and draw more than 5,000 athletes from across North America.

Organizations: Prince Albert, North American

Geographic location: Regina, Saskatchewan, North America
