Three vehicle stops lead to impaired driving charges

Police laid impaired driving charges against three individuals after stopping their vehicles for unrelated matters over the weekend.

The first incident took place on Saturday at 8 a.m., when patrol members saw a vehicle speeding in the 800 block of 28th Street East.

An officer tried to pull the vehicle over. However, the vehicle continued driving through a four-way stop intersection before pulling into a parking lot in the 600 block of 28th Street East and stopping.

An investigation into impaired driving led to a 22-year-old man being charged with impaired driving of a motor vehicle and exceeding .08.

The driver of the vehicle was released on a promise to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday, July 22 at 1:30 p.m.

The second Saturday incident started at 9:07 a.m., when members of the traffic section observed a truck in the area of 34th Street and Second Avenue West driving with its bumper dragging.

The truck appeared to have sustained previous damage and officers saw numerous passengers in the vehicle. They initiated a traffic stop and conducted an impaired driving investigation.

A 32-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving of a motor vehicle and exceeding .08. The driver of the vehicle was released on a promise to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Friday, Aug. 22 at 1:30 p.m.

Finally, on Sunday at 2:06 a.m., police saw a vehicle fail to use its signal lights while making a turn in the 200 block of 15th Street West.

An officer stopped the vehicle and conducted an impaired driving investigation. A 21-year-old woman was subsequently charged with impaired driving of a motor vehicle, exceeding .08 and no operator’s licence.

The driver was released on a promise to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Thursday, July 17.
