Her appointment to the new position came as part of a wider cabinet shuffle announced on Thursday by Premier Brad Wall.

In her role as legislative secretary, Jurgens will work closely with Minister of Government Relations Jim Reiter.

“I’m very honoured that the premier would consider me as a legislative secretary and I look forward to working with Minister Reiter,” Jurgens said.

“The north is a piece that’s near and dear to my heart. A large sector of the Prince Albert Northcote people have direct ties to the north or work in the north, and it is quite an honour to be able to work in a further capacity with the north.”

The position of legislative secretary for northern Saskatchewan is a brand new one.

As a result, specific duties and responsibilities remain under discussion and Jurgens is currently engaged in conversations with Reiter to help prepare for her new role.

The MLA noted that further details on the position will be released in the near future.

“It’s a legislative secretary role and I will be fleshing out what those duties all entail in the coming weeks,” Jurgens said.

“Right now my focus continues and will continue (to be) to represent the people of Prince Albert Northcote.”
