Friday is the last day for residents to donate money to the Prince Albert Share-A-Meal Food Bank as the organization’s Feed A Friend Month draws to a close.
A month-long effort to raise funds for the food bank, the initiative appeals to residents to “be a Hunger Hero.”
“Basically, whoever donates the most will become our Hunger Hero,” co-manager Kerry Ramsdell said.
Anyone who donates $100 -- a sum that would sponsor a full day of meals -- may also qualify as a Hunger Hero.
Other options exist for potential donors. By donating $5, they can “feed a friend in need” by covering the costs of a single meal.
“You can go up to $500, which would feed (people) for, I do believe, a week,” Ramsdell said.
“Our goal is to reach $2,500.”

With the Northern Lights Casino pledging to match up to the first $2,500 in donations until 5 p.m. on Friday, the food bank could end up raising as much as $5,000 were it to reach its stated goal.
Funds raised will go towards covering general operating costs at the food bank.
“It goes to our wages as well,” Ramsdell noted.
Individuals can make donations by stopping by the food bank in person, by calling Ramsdell or co-manager Wes Clarke at 306-763-5040 or online at www.pafoodbank.ca.
