A traffic stop regarding expired plates led to drug charges on Saturday after police discovered methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Officers initially observed a vehicle driving with expired plates in the 700 block of Fourth Street East, which prompted them to conduct the traffic stop.

The male driver was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest. After police arrested the man, they searched his vehicle and found a small amount of methamphetamine.

A 60-year-old man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and has made his first court appearance at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
